What's happening: We're upgrading our database infrastructure as part of an initiative to modernize our systems and complete large-scale software versioning improvements. This work keeps our technology stack current, high-performing, and aligned with the security and compliance standards our customers rely on.
When: 2026-07-01 at 11:00 UTC (2 AM AKST). The estimated duration is about 30 minutes. In some cases, the window may run up to an hour, and we've planned for that so it won't catch you off guard.
Why outside the normal maintenance window: The scope of this initiative spans nearly our entire hosted environment and needs to be completed on an accelerated schedule ahead of the new semester. We can't fit all of it into the usual 1st and 3rd Thursday windows, so we're restricting every upgrade to off-hour, lowest-usage windows, with work beginning between midnight and 2 a.m. Your maintenance time of day will be honored in all cases.
What to expect: Canvas will be temporarily unavailable during the window described above. No action is required from you or your users.
