We have completed testing and have enabled logins. The SIS process will be down for a few more hours as we update it to take advantage of Blackboard Direct Data Access. Please let us know if you encounter any issues and enjoy Blackboard SaaS!

Verifying
Blackboard was able to successfully transfer the missing files. We are currently validating the final pieces and then will open it up for regular use.

Update
Initial testing and validation by UAA, UAF, and UAS admins has been successful with no major issues encountered. Blackboard is still transferring the missing files and UA admins will continue testing integrations and configurations while waiting to hear from Blackboard. We will know early on the 26th if this latest attempt to transfer the missing files is successful. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Update
The transfer of the missing files is progressing but it doesn't look like it will finish before tomorrow. This will likely push this maintenance window until the morning of the 26th. We are starting to validate other settings so that once the files are in place we will only need to validate they are working as intended.

Update
Blackboard discovered some missing files that were not moved over and are moving them into place and wrapping up one or two unrelated QA related tasks. We are waiting to hear back from Blackboard once those tasks are complete so we can begin our validation and acceptance testing and final configuration changes.

Update
Blackboard has successfully completed the major migration work and is starting the final updates and configuration changes. They were able to make up the 7 hours and are now a little bit ahead of schedule again. They hope to be able to turn it over to UA for validation and acceptance testing late tomorrow morning.

Update
Blackboard encountered technical issues while performing the updates due to a cumulative update on our end they were unaware we applied. Everything is back on track and moving forward now, but we are currently about 7 hours behind our original schedule. Blackboard believes those 7 hours can be regained if everything goes smoothly moving forward, but we may end up needing to extend the migration window until the 26th or maybe even the 27th.

Update
Work continues to progress smoothly and Blackboard has completed the first big database steps, successfully restoring the database exports and content into a staging environment. Blackboard is currently working on reconfiguring application servers and quality assurance tests. Next, Blackboard will apply updates and complete other prep work for the transfer of data to our SaaS production instance.

Scheduled
As part of the University of Alaska’s commitment to providing users with more performant and reliable services, the UA Learn winter upgrade cycle this year will also include a transition to Blackboard's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Learn.
This migration is largely a technical transition. The “face” of UA Blackboard Learn will not be changing. Users can expect to have the same visual experience with UA Learn moving forward, just with better performance and reliability. The infrastructure hosting the service will now be managed by Blackboard and scaled across multiple data centers with 24/7 support and maintenance.
